The FIP Development Goals provide the framework for needs assessments and prioritisation for member organisations to undertake, relevant to their national situation. In turn, the priorities can provide each organisation with the foundations for mapping the progress and transformations for their workforce, practice and pharmaceutical science.
In 2023, the FIP GPO designed and developed a set of correlated progress indicators, through a series of research methods, to monitor transformation across various aspects of pharmacy and support long term tracking progress towards the 21 Development Goals worldwide.
Indicators will be a way to measure and monitor progress worldwide and support each country in the process of transformation of their workforce, education, practice and pharmaceutical science, via the data we collate in the FIP Global Pharmaceutical Observatory.
Indicators will be used to support member organisations/nations to:
- identify where improvements are needed;
- set priorities for quality improvement and support;
- benchmark performance against other countries;
- support national quality improvement schemes;
- demonstrate the progress that pharmacy is making in support of health systems outcomes.

In 2024, we tested and validated the first batch of six Development Goals and their associated indicators using the data we collated from our FIP member organisations (MOs). You can download the list of validated indicators from here.
What is the DGs Indicators Global Dashboard?
A global measure of pharmacy professional practice transformation progress
The FIP DGs indicators dashboard offers an interactive, data-driven platform that visualises country-level progress across the 21 FIP Development Goals and their associated indicators over time. This tool supports the assessment of alignment, implementation, and transformation progress globally, regionally, and nationally. It allows FIP member organisations and nations to explore their own advancement towards the DGs and compare their performance with that of other countries.
This data dashboard is currently in its testing phase, providing an opportunity for members to explore its features and provide feedback. Your insights are important for enhancing its functionality and user experience. If you have any questions or need support, feel free to contact the GPO team at observatory@fip.org.
How to use the FIP DGs Indicators Global Dashboard?

Click here to download the user guide, which provides guidance on the FIP Development Goals (DGs) Indicators Dashboard. It includes definitions, category descriptions, and step-by-step instructions to help you navigate the platform. You’ll also find details on the dashboard’s purpose, benefits, and how it visualises progress across countries, regions, and globally.
